Extended Learning Opportunities–Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO SAIL)

Extended Learning Opportunities – Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO SAIL) is a free five-week summer program available in 21 selected Title I elementary schools for students entering kindergarten, first, and second grade. Four schools feature a four-hour instructional day of reading, language arts, and mathematics. This summer, 17 schools will extend the program to 6.5 hours. To complement literacy and mathematics instruction in the morning, the extended time expands curricula offerings to include arts and sciences. Montgomery County Public Schools will provide free bus transportation to and from the program from established neighborhood bus stops. Breakfast and lunch are served to each child. Eligibility for this program depends on school of enrollment and other special circumstances. Students must be enrolled in a Title I school to attend. Students who are experiencing homelessness may also attend.

The free meals will be distributed at more than 100 sites throughout the county on weekdays starting June 18 (start dates vary by site). Children 18 and younger are eligible to receive the meals, as are persons with physical and mental disabilities up to 21 years old.

Lunch also will be provided daily to children 18 years and younger on a walk-in basis at several locations throughout the county. For specific information on locations and meal times, click here.
