Summer RISE Host Registration is now open through Friday, April 1st

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Partnerships Unit is seeking businesses, government agencies, higher education institutions and nonprofits to participate as hosts for the 2022 Summer RISE program. Summer RISE is a program for MCPS rising high school juniors and seniors to learn about a career during the month of July.

  • Highlights of Summer RISE 2022:
  • Host Registration: Open now through Friday, April 1, 2022
  • Summer RISE: July 5-29, 2022
  • Closing Ceremony: Friday, July 29th
  • Flexible schedule | 50 hours over 4 weeks | 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Opportunities can be in-person, virtual or hybrid
  • The Partnerships Unit is offering virtual courses to supplement the 50 required hours, if needed

Student registration is launching this Wednesday, February 16th and we anticipate having over 1,100 students registering this year. With your help, we will be able to offer Summer RISE to more students.

SMYAL is seeking an LGBTQ Services Navigator

Position Description

The LGBTQ Services Navigator will work with staff at the Montgomery County Reengagement / Drop‐In Center to engage disconnected youth. The goal of the work will be to identify and build culturally competent resources for youth, to refer youth to the appropriate resources through Case Management, and to develop solutions to gaps in services. The LGBTQ Services Navigator, along with the dedicated Case Managers, provides client centered case management services to address the education, mental health, physical health and permanent living situation through coordinated activities and referrals. The LGBTQ Services Navigator will also consult on the general space and environment for the Reengagement / Drop‐In Center, helping to ensure the space is culturally competent towards and inviting to LGBTQ youth. The LGBTQ Services Navigator needs to have vision, drive, and passion as the role will shift with time andneeds.

The Montgomery County Collaboration Council seeks one qualified vendor to provide Evening Reporting Center (ERC) services for youth ages 14-17 assigned by the juvenile court as an alternative to secure detention. The ERC will be a structured learning environment focusing on education, positive skill building and treatment. The ERC is a highly accountable service directing youth towards compliance with court/probation requirements. It is intended to prevent future involvement in the juvenile justice system and/or out-of-home placement. The setting is one where youth receive personal attention to manage behaviors and learn life skills. Funding is provided for operational expenses for nine months beginning October 1, 2019. .
