Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder

Although some amount of anxiety is normal, when it begins to interfere with everyday life it should be addressed and treated by a doctor. Anxiety disorder is caused by a feeling of constant, overwhelming anxiety. Panic attacks are a symptom of debilitating anxiety, and can lead to panic disorder if untreated.  Children with anxiety and panic often suffer more than adults, because they are still learning how to control their emotions. Children with anxiety or panic may struggle in school due to constant feelings of worry, apprehension, distraction, or irritability. These children may have lower grades and make fewer friends. It is important that children with such needs are given the help they need by a medical professional so that they can continue their education and experience less anxiety and panic.
